Terms of Use
Effective October 11, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use govern your use of the PupQuiet app by ecohome ("PupQuiet", "the app"), made by ecohome ("ecohome", "we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms and to the PupQuiet Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
If you got the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it conflicts with these terms, Apple's agreement controls for anything it covers.
2. What PupQuiet does, and what it can't promise
PupQuiet listens through your device's microphone and, when it recognises a sound such as thunder, fireworks or an explosion, lowers or mutes your connected speakers for a short time and then restores them.
PupQuiet works on a best-effort basis:
- It can't catch every sound. Sound recognition can miss sounds or mistake other sounds for booms, depending on the room, the volume, the mic and where the device is placed.
- It can't act instantly. The start of a sound may play before your speakers are quieted. Response time depends on your network and your speakers.
- It only quiets speakers it controls. It does nothing about real thunder, fireworks or other noise outside your speakers. It may quiet your TV when it hears real thunder outside, which is intended.
- It can stop working. Speaker makers can change their systems, networks drop, and devices sleep or run out of battery. The app shows when it is not protecting, but it can't guarantee protection at any given moment.
- It is not veterinary advice. PupQuiet is a comfort tool, not a treatment for noise anxiety. If your pet has noise phobia or anxiety, talk to your veterinarian. Don't rely on PupQuiet as your pet's only protection.
3. Your responsibilities
- Use the app only with speakers and networks you own or are allowed to control.
- Use the app only in places where you're allowed to listen with a microphone. Let the people you live with know it is listening for loud sounds.
- Keep the device near the TV and powered while it is protecting, and check that the app shows it is protecting.
- Keep your speaker volume at a level that's safe for your pet and household. If the app restores your volume after a quiet period, it restores the level that was set before.
- Keep your device, app and speaker software up to date.
4. Other companies' speakers and services
PupQuiet controls speakers and TVs made by other companies, such as Sonos, LG and Roku, using the control methods those companies make available. Those products and services are governed by their makers' own terms. We're not responsible for them, and they may change in ways that stop PupQuiet from working with them.
Sonos, LG, Roku, Apple, iPhone, iPad, Mac and the other product names mentioned in the app are trademarks of their owners. PupQuiet is not made, endorsed or sponsored by any of them.
5. Licence and acceptable use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. ecohome keeps all rights in the app, its design and the ecohome and PupQuiet names and logos.
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it;
- use the app to record, monitor or listen to anyone, or for any purpose other than protecting a pet from loud sounds;
- use the app to control devices or networks you aren't allowed to control;
- interfere with or overload any speaker, network or service.
6. Beta versions
Test versions of the app, such as those shared through Apple's TestFlight, are unfinished and may be less reliable. Feedback you send us may be used to improve PupQuiet without any obligation to you.
7. Price and purchases
PupQuiet is free. You can choose to leave a tip through an in-app purchase. Tips are voluntary, unlock no features and are not needed to use any part of the app. If we ever charge for the app or for added features, the App Store will show the price before you pay. All purchases, including tips, are made through the App Store and follow Apple's payment and refund policies.
8. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. This includes, without limitation, warranties that it will detect every sound, react within any particular time, work with every speaker, or be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, ecohome is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. This includes, without limitation, distress or injury to a pet or person, property damage, or loss of data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop using the app and delete it at any time. We may suspend or end your licence if you break these terms. Sections 8 to 12 continue after these terms end.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of Washington, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
12. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms.
